McKinney-Vento

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act is Title X, Part C of the No Child Left Behind Act. 

This legislation ensures that children and youth experiencing homelessness have full and equal access to an appropriate public education and that they experience success in school. The program protects children who are living in transitional housing situations and states that any student lacking a fixed, regular or adequate place to live is eligible for this program. 

Specifically, if students live under any of these conditions:

 

Under this legislation, a student is guaranteed enrollment in school, as well as, the opportunity to benefit from a variety of services to help meet educational needs. Services may include the following based on need and supply availability:
