Short Term Independent Study during Teachers' Strike
🏫 Schools Will Remain Open
At this time, schools will remain open and on a minimum day schedule with a 1:30 PM dismissal. However, we understand that some families may prefer to keep their children at home during this period. To support families, the district is offering two options:
-
Option 1 - Attend school: Send your child to school as usual. Keep in mind that dismissal at all sites will be at 1:30 PM. Substitute teachers and staff will be on campus with planned activities for all grade levels.
-
Option 2 - Independent Study option: Keep your child home and complete an Independent Study Packet. Packets will be sent home with every student the day before the strike begins. A downloadable copy will also be available on our district website. Complete packets must be returned to school on your child’s first day back for your child to get attendance credit.
✅ Earn Attendance Credit at Home
Students who participate in Independent Study will receive attendance credit for the day(s) by completing the assigned learning packet.
📚 What this means for your child:
-
Packets include assignments in core subjects
-
All work is aligned to grade-level standards
-
This option is voluntary and available during strike-impacted days
⚠️ Important: Short-Term Limit
Short-term Independent Study is limited to a maximum of 15 school days.
If your child has already used short-term Independent Study days this school year, those days will count toward the 15 day total.
