Inter-District Permits

Inter-District Permit Window

The window for obtaining an Inter-District permit for the 2026-2027 school year is from January 5, 2026 through May 29, 2026.

 We are no longer accepting or processing permits for the 2025-2026 school year. If you have recently moved into the Little Lake City School District and would like for your child to remain at their home school, please contact Educational Services.


All required documents are listed below. Incomplete permit requests will not be processed.

Attach the following documents to  :

  1. Student Identification – Birth Certificate
  2. Parent Identification – Parent/Guardian ID
  3. Proof of Residence (utility bill with name and address of parent/guardian dated within the past two months)
  4. Documentation supporting reason for Inter-District Permit request- see acceptable reasons below:

Acceptable Reasons to Request an Inter-District Attendance Permits and Verification/Documentation that must be provided

  1. Parent Employment – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if their place of employment is located within the requested district’s boundaries.
    • Verification Required (signed letter from employer, pay stub)
  2. Sibling – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if the child’s sibling is currently attending another district.
    • Verification Required (Proof of sibling(s) enrollment with requested district)
  3. Proposed Change of Residency – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if they will be moving within the trimester.
    • Verification Required (escrow papers, rental agreement, utility bill)
  4. Specialized Program – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if the requested district offers a specialized program that is not currently offered at LLCSD.
    • Verification Required (documentation of special program that LLCSD does not offer, documentation must be attached, links are not sufficient)
  5. Continuing Enrollment – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if their child is currently enrolled in elementary school and will transition to a middle school within the same district.
    • Verification Required (proof of enrollment with requested district)
  6. Complete Final Year at Current School – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if their child is completing their final year at their current school.
    • Verification Required (proof of enrollment with requested district)
  7. Other – Parents can request in writing their reasons for applying for an Inter-District Attendance Permit.
    • Verification Required (detailed parent letter stating reasons for request and evidence)
* Child care is not a valid reason as LLCSD provides free before and after school care at each school site.
 

Educational Services will process the Inter-District Permit application and provide a decision within 30 days. The parent/guardian will be able to track the process and view the final decision online. Please do not call for rush requests. 

If approved,  the original permit will be mailed to the district requested and LLCSD will retain a copy. 

If denied, the parent/guardian will receive information regarding the appeal process and will have 30 days to submit their appeal. Information on the appeals process and the appeal form can be found in the documents below.
