Dear LLCSD Community:
I write to provide you with an update regarding the status of negotiations between the District and its two bargaining groups.
Regarding CSEA, CSEA and the District have reached tentative agreements on Articles 10 (Promotion) and 15 (Hours). The parties continue to negotiate Article 5 (Association Rights) and Article 16 (Compensation and Benefits). The parties were scheduled to meet Wednesday, April 8, 2026. However, that meeting was rescheduled due to a second day of factfinding with LLEA that was held on April 8, 2026. Additional bargaining dates with CSEA are in the process of being scheduled.
Regarding LLEA, the District and LLEA met for their factfinding hearing on April 2 and April 8, 2026. At the end of April 8, 2026, the Parties did not reach an agreement and a factfinding report is forthcoming.
The District is aware that on or about March 4, 2026, LLEA held a strike authorization vote which was approved by LLEA membership. A strike is only legal after all impasse resolution procedures under state law have been completed, including issuance of and sharing of the factfinding report with the public. Once the factfinding report is issued and made public, the union may lawfully call a strike. As such, the District has not been provided notice by LLEA as to the date of their strike. If and when such notification is received, employees, parents, and the community will be notified about any timelines and about what to expect if there is a strike.
To answer some frequent questions, the District has prepared an FAQ for parents regarding a potential strike. The FAQ may be located at the link below.
We are grateful for our staff and for the community’s support as we work to reach agreements with our labor partners. Our goal is to take care of our employees while keeping our schools financially stable. We are negotiating in good faith and remain committed to finding solutions that support our staff and our students.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Vasquez
Superintendent
